This morning was quite chilly with a noticeable breeze but the sun came out and as the breeze was from the south shooters were well sheltered at the firing point and it had little affect in terms of windage. Indeed, by 10am, even though it was not warm it was an excellent day for winter shooting.
There were 3 from the region competitors today but one made the trip from Sydney! Two shot in the 22 Trainer class and the other 2 in the Cadet class. The biggest challenge came in the form of the rulebook’s newest match, Match 36: Le Mans for Training Rifle. The time limit on this match turned out to be very challenging and those people who are going to shoot this match at the NSW CSD State Titles should practice. M.C. won this match, edging out A.W. by 3 points.
Next was Match 28: Snap A for Trainer Rifle. This 10-shot, 5 exposure match was very closely run and A.W. took the match by just one point. After 2 matches that were timed a basically rapid Match 32: Deliberate for Training Rifle, was a relief. The leisurely pace of 10 shots in 6 minutes in the prone position was quite a change of pace. Competitors tended to rush themselves leaving minutes to spare at the end. As is often the case the 22 Trainers suffered at 100m and A.W. won this using his 310 Cadet.
Overall results were A.W. in first on 175.8, M.C. second on 169.9, and S.H. on third with 146.4.
