Five competitors gathered at 9am today for the match. The club's Norinco JW-25a .22lr trainer rifle proved invaluable as none of the competitors own their own Trainer rifle and only 1 owned a Martini Cadet rifle. Competitors had followed ammunition recommendations for the JW-25a and all used the more accurate Winchester PowerPoint 40gr HP ammunition.
In the end, discipline newcomer S.C. shot an excellent 131.6 to win both the 22lr Trainer class and the overall match. A.W. won the 310 Cadet class with a pleasing 120.3 and S.H. placed second in both 22 Trainer and 310 classes with a 112 and a 105.2 respectively. A.H. Snr shot a creditable 58 in her first 22 Trainer outing to place third in class and A.H. Jnr shot a 47 to double his previous score and take 1st Junior.
Without doubt, however, S.C. is a competitor to watch, having shot an A Grade score in his first match using an open sighted rifle he was not accustomed to shooting. Check out the pics below!
Our next Service Rifle match is on Saturday April 7th and we'll be shooting 3 types of rapid fire. And our next Cadet & Trainer match is on May 5th when we'll be shooting Action M and Snap. Please come along!!
